Together with Obninsk, the innovative company AeroFilter is celebrating its birthday at the end of July. A total of 35 people provide filtration equipment to all nuclear power plants in the country. They also supply foreign nuclear power plants with equipment designed in Russia.
In 2008, the company left the Obninsk Center for Science and Technology. Who would have thought that 15 years later, AeroFilter would have an annual revenue of over 300 million rubles and a market share of 25% in its niche? Of the 26 possible types of filters that are currently used at nuclear power plants, 23 are manufactured by the Obninsk company, 11 of which are protected by Russian patents and 3 by international patents.
The AeroFilter filtration systems are also used on all new nuclear-powered icebreakers. They will soon be installed on the upcoming nuclear-powered icebreaker "Leader," which is twice the size of existing icebreakers, as well as on the auxiliary fleet that will serve these vessels.
Aerofilter tests all of its products in its own testing laboratory, which is accredited by Rosatom and is the only one of its kind in Russia. This allows Aerofilter to confirm the quality of its products and their compliance with customer requirements or GOST standards.
New Horizons
Recently, Aerofilter has started a new business venture, providing equipment to medical institutions. Previously, various complexes for working with radiopharmaceuticals were purchased abroad, and they were purchased as a package. This included everything, including filtration systems. Now, due to the sanctions, this is not possible. There is a demand that we can meet.
We already have several such deliveries — a large complex of filtration equipment has been delivered to Kommunarka, to several clinics that perform IVF, and, of course, we also supply to the MRSC,” says Leonid Katukhin, CEO of AeroFilter.
To make it even easier and more profitable to develop new areas, AeroFilter recently launched a new metalworking production facility. “Now, we are producing some of the items we used to outsource ourselves, reducing our dependence on our partners. This has added financial stability to our company," says the CEO.
The secret of success
"How can you stay effective and successful for 15 years?" we ask Leonid Fedorovich. "In the past, it was common to talk about success stories and copy them. However, in my experience, it's important to learn from failures. If you've experienced a setback, it's crucial to analyze it yourself or with the help of professionals. Instead of simply wiping your hands and counting your losses, you should take the time to reflect on the reasons for the failure. This approach offers more benefits than simply learning from success stories. It's not for nothing that they say that success is a journey from one failure to another," Katukhin replies.
Symbolism
It is customary to sum up some results on round dates. Only not in AeroFilter. "It is possible to sum up results if we do not plan to work further," as always, Leonid Katukhin is sharp but accurate. "It is just a symbolism, a round date. 15 is no different from 14 or 17. There is a positive trend, some milestones that we have outlined. We definitely have something to do for the next 5-6 years."
