The life support system installation (LSI) is designed to purify the outdoor air from toxic substances, radioactive aerosols, and iodine in order to ensure the long-term stay of personnel in the rooms of the block control room (BCR) and the backup control room (BCR) without exceeding the maximum permissible radiation doses in emergency situations (emergency release of radioactive aerosols and iodine into the environment at the nuclear power plant, fire at the nuclear power plant, and the appearance of toxic substances in the atmospheric air in the area of the air intake).
